Back-to-School Information and Important Dates

Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are excited to welcome you and your child to the upcoming Head Start school year! Please review the important dates and reminders below to help ensure a smooth transition into the classroom for you and your child.

Center Start Dates 
• Bedford Head Start – August 24, 2026
• Madison Heights Head Start-To Be Determined
• Thomas Road Head Start-August 27 & 28, 2026

Phase-In Days
Prior to the official start of school, families will participate in a phase-in process designed to help children become comfortable in their new learning environment. Please plan to have at least one parent or guardian stay with your child on their phase-in days, which will be 2 hours long. This day is also for you to feel good about leaving your child with us on their first full day!

During this time, you will:
• Meet with your child's teacher.
• Review and update emergency contacts, releases, and required forms.
• Discuss your child's needs and interests, so your teacher can individualize their learning activities.
• Become familiar with classroom routines and expectations.

Phase-In Dates:
Bedford Head Start: Monday, August 24th (12:30 pm- 2:30 pm) 
Madison Heights Head Start: To Be Determined  
Thomas Road Head Start: Thursday & Friday, August 27th & 28th (12:30 pm-2:30 pm)  

Parent Orientation
Prior to the official start of school, families will participate in their parent orientation, where we will review the Family Handbook. This orientation will review the program’s policies and procedures, services, and expectations related to attendance, health, safety, communication, and child development. Families will leave this knowing how they can fully participate in the Head Start program.

Important Reminder
During the phase-in period, a parent or guardian must remain with their child for the scheduled visit. Attendance requirements will begin on the center's official start date. Regular school hours will begin at Bedford HS on August 25, 2026, from 7:30 am – 2:30 pm. Madison Heights to be determined. 

For Thomas Road HS, regular school hours will start on August 31, 2026 from 7:30 am – 2:30 pm.

Paperwork Submission
Please submit all required paperwork to Bedford HS & Madison Heights HS by August 24, 2026, so we have a complete record for your child when they begin. For Thomas Road HS by August 25, 2026.

Required documents may include:
• Enrollment forms
• Emergency contact information
• Health, Physical Exam and Immunization records

¡Nos complace darles la bienvenida a usted y a su hijo al próximo año escolar de Head Start! Por favor, revise las fechas importantes y los recordatorios que aparecen a continuación para ayudar a garantizar una transición fluida al aula tanto para usted como para su hijo.

Días de adaptación gradual
Antes del inicio oficial de clases, las familias participarán en un proceso de adaptación gradual diseñado para ayudar a los niños a sentirse cómodos en su nuevo entorno de aprendizaje. Por favor, planifique que al menos un padre o tutor permanezca con su hijo durante el día de adaptación, el cual tendrá una duración de 2 horas. ¡Este día también sirve para que usted se sienta tranquilo al dejar a su hijo con nosotros en su primer día completo!

Durante este tiempo, usted:

• Se reunirá con el maestro de su hijo.
• Revisará y actualizará los contactos de emergencia, las autorizaciones y los formularios requeridos.
• Hablará sobre las necesidades e intereses de su hijo, para que el maestro pueda personalizar sus actividades de aprendizaje.
• Se familiarizará con las rutinas y expectativas del aula.

Orientación para padres
Antes del inicio oficial de clases, las familias participarán en una sesión de orientación para padres, donde revisaremos el Manual para Familias. En esta orientación se analizarán las políticas y procedimientos del programa, los servicios y las expectativas relacionadas con la asistencia, la salud, la seguridad, la comunicación y el desarrollo infantil. Al finalizar, las familias sabrán cómo participar plenamente en el programa Head Start.

Recordatorio importante
Durante el período de adaptación gradual, un padre o tutor debe permanecer con su hijo durante la visita programada. Los requisitos de asistencia comenzarán a partir de la fecha oficial de inicio del centro. El horario escolar regular comenzará:

Entrega de documentación
Por favor, entregue toda la documentación requerida a Bedford y Madison Heights antes del 24 de agosto para que contemos con un expediente completo de su hijo al comenzar el programa. Para Thomas Raod por de determinar.
